Swimming Lessons

We took SB to swimming lessons the last week of July. Swimming lessons did not go super great. The instructor was wonderful, but Sawyer, in typical toddler boy fashion, was not a great listener & wanted to do what HE wanted when HE wanted. The instructor taught the kiddos how to blow bubbles, kicks & arm strokes, how to properly enter & exit the pool & going under water. There were some moments when Sawyer would be entertained & have fun, like when we would sing songs, but most of the time he wanted to climb up the ladder & jump off the edge; when I didn't let him do that, he threw huge fits!! The first night was the worst, he screamed and cried the entire time, Blake & I were both in the pool trying to control him. I was embarrassed & felt like a big parenting failure, especially because all of the other kids were perfect angels! Thankfully, Sawyer got  a little better as the week went on & the most all of the other kids had "bad nights" too ;)
Sawyer graduated!! Hopefully if we're welcomed back, next year will be better!

Midweek Randoms {a day late & a couple weeks overdue}

The last couple weeks have been a little more crazy busy than usual. I planned and pulled off a surprise 16th birthday party for my baby sister. More on that later.
SB was sick last week. He had a few restless nights, decreased appetite, low grade temp, and congestion. I was treating him on my own with Tylenol, fluids and rest, but when I was checking him out one night and felt a dozen or more little knots in his neck, I freaked! I knew it was probably swollen lymph nodes, but there were so many and they were so scattered from ear to ear on the back of his neck, I made him an appt. with the pediatrician first thing the next morning. Dr. B said it was just a cold virus and that all those little lymph nodes were a normal response. We continued to treat with Tylenol & fluids and he started feeling better by that afternoon. It was Sawyer's first sick visit to the doctor in 21 months! Not too bad if you ask me!
Sawyer's favorite thing to do every morning is give the girls a bone before we leave for the day. He gets so excited and feels so proud! He try's telling them to sit before they get their bones, but they don't listen to him like they do me.
Now on to this week...
This hair do on Monday morning set the tone for the first half of our week!
What do these 4 photos have in common you might ask??
I witnessed all these situations before noon on Tuesday!!! CA-RAZZYY!!
1. Random guy slipped in laundry detergent & hit his head at the Walgreens. Refused my help.
2. Empty bottle of vodka found in one of my patients rooms at the hospital
3. & 4. CRAZY police pursuit my friend & I got caught up in on the streets of Little Rock when we went out to pick up lunch!
Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday, its a 3 day weekend &&& RAZORBACK FOOTBALL to watch on Saturday!!

Thoughts on {everyone else's} First Day of School

Seeing all of the first day of school photos today on Facebook & Instagram was just another reminder of how quickly time passes.
Sawyer Blake is going to be 21 months old tomorrow, which is just 3 months away from him turning 2 & only 3 years until I'm bawling and squawling dropping him off at school for his first day of kindergarten!!
It's also a reminder to never take a single day for granted, even when you have to wrestle your cranky, almost 2 year old in to his church clothes.
This is what he thought of his outfit.
And this is what he thought of having his picture taken in said outfit.
I put a lot of effort in to trying to capture every detail of my sweet boys life because I never want to forget anything... Like these ordinary moments when I'm trying to make homemade salsa & he's picking "toes" out of the {unplugged} food processor faster than I can chop them up!
Ha! This cutie has a serious love for tomatoes!
Hope you all have a fantastic week & a great school year!

Our Weekend

We had a great weekend. Plenty of down time as a family &
 fun times spent with friends.
Friday night we finished up swimming lessons {full post on that later}. After lessons, we made a visit to the Redbox {I seriously cannot remember what we rented, so it must have not been that good}, got dinner from Nana's & hung out at home.
Saturday morning we did a little cleaning, a little playing with Sawyer,
 and lots of laundry.
Silly SB had fun playing with himself in the mirror.
Saturday night, we met my co-workers at the Thompson's house for a potluck dinner for the new parents. I'm lame and didn't take any pictures other than this one of Sawyer. He was giving out high fives to everyone.
We cooked what I call "fancy breakfast" on Sunday. It's actually more like brunch because it takes forever to make. Ha! Lobster cakes eggs Benedict & fresh fried potatoes. Yum!
We were super lazy after breakfast. We played with Sawyer & watched
'Zero Dark Thirty'. It was good!
Sunday afternoon, we went to the Battistone's for a cookout. The girls were playing in the kiddie pool, we forgot Saw's swimming trunks, so he had to go swimmy diaper only!
Future all-star right here!
Little sweets giving bye loves :)
Monday came all too soon again!
Hope you have a great week!
